Papers, 1864-1993.

Papers of a farmer and amateur local historian who wrote and collected materials about the Town of Sumpter, Sauk County, Wisconsin. Included are scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, notes, histories of area families, genealogical charts and data, transcribed diaries, correspondence, snippets of conversations, and photographs. Especially well documented are the Accola, Kindschi, and Mueller families to whom Mueller was related, as well as the Haskin, Huddleston, Ochsner, Ragatz, Sprecher, and Waterbury families. Similarly diverse materials document area cemeteries, churches, schools, organizations, and places, especially the Badger Ordnance Works, which was constructed during World War II, Badger Village (later Bluffview Courts, a retirement community originally constructed as subsidized housing for Badger Ordnance Works), the Free Congregation of Sauk City, Salem Evangelical Church, the Witwen camp religious meetings, and Stone's Pocket School. The research of Walter Doll, historian of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, is also represented. Original material in the collection includes minutes and scrapbooks of the Sauk City Gun Club, the Sauk City Women's Club, and the Sauk Prairie Farmers Club. The processed portion of this series is summarized above, dates 1864-1992, and is described in the register. Additional accessions consist principally of photographs and two 1993 videotapes and are described below.
